The major objectives of the study were to assess the overall corporate governance rating of ZSE-listed companies and to examine the significance of corporate governance practices on the financial performance of those listed companies. The researcher chose companies listed on the ZSE as they play a pivotal role in the national economy and their corporate governance is regulated by ZSE. The study adopted a positivism paradigm and employed the quantitative approach. The quantitative approach is premised on gathering scientific data through objective means which include experiments and surveys. Corporate governance was measured using the Blau (1977) model whilst the firm performance was measured using accounting ratios. Firm performance panel data was collected from the ZSE- listed firms‟ annual financial reports that were available on their respective websites for the period 2014 to 2019. Data were analysed using the PCSE regression analysis model. The research established that most ZSE-listed companies surpassed the minimum corporate governance practices set by ZSE. However, there was a high level of non-disclosure of some information which should ordinarily be made available to stakeholders in the Annual reports. The study also established that financial performance was sector related. Corporate governance practices had a varying degree effect on certain accounting ratios, and some did not have a significant correlation with other financial performance indicators. The study concluded that some corporate governance practices are correlated to the entity‟s financial performance and that corporate governance practices affect the company‟s financial performance to a different extent. It is, therefore, recommended that people charged with corporate governance should institute sound corporate governance practices to enhance companies‟ financial performance. This study evaluated the growth and yield responses to different in-row spacings of different varieties of Irish potato grown in Eastern highlands of Zimbabwe. The treatments consisted of three varieties, namely BP1, Diamond and Garnet, and three in-row spacings, namely: 10 cm, 30 cm and 50 cm. Inter-row spacing was maintained at 90cm for all treatments. Treatments were arranged in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD); 3 × 3 factorial arrangement, replicated 3 times. Measurements taken were on plant height, number of potato tubers plant-1, and weight of marketable potato tubers, and then averaged. All in-row spacing were significantly different at P <0.001 with 10 cm producing the highest mean height (92.29 cm). Of the three varieties (Garnet, Diamond and BP1), BP1 produced the greatest height (76.12 cm). There was significant interaction (P=0.001) between variety and in-row spacing on the mean number of tubers plant-1. BP1 produced superior (P < 0.001) mean weight of tubers (15.14 t/ha) and potato tubers/plant (21.47) in comparison to Garnet and Diamond at 10 cm in-row spacing. This study investigates the effects of mobile communication technology on work-life balance among university lecturers in Zimbabwe. Employing a qualitative research paradigm and an interpretive philosophy, the study facilitates an in-depth exploration of lecturers’ perceptions regarding the effects of mobile communication on their work-life balance. A hybrid methodology combining case study and phenomenological designs was utilised, involving 21 lecturers selected from various departments across the selected state university through criterion purposive sampling. The findings revealled significant insights into this pressing issue. It was revealed that the effects of mobile communication technology on the work-life balance of lecturers are multifaceted, with both positive and negative effects found depending on how its use is regulated. When utilised randomly without guiding institutional policies and practices, it is more likely to impact negatively on the work-life balance of lecturers. This study recommended a careful and judicious use of mobile communication technologies within faculties and departments to facilitate work while preserving work-life equilibrium. The Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) has undergone a lot of transformation since becoming a fully pledged university in 1999. ZOU started with class contact (face-to-face with tutor) and use of modules but has made great strides towards full use of electronic learning (e-learning) in line with contemporary global practices in ODeL. The study used the explanatory research design. A questionnaire was used to collect quantitative data. The interview guide was used to collect qualitative data. The study established that the majority of academics’ workload had increased as the transition phase was taking longer than expected. A lot of administrative work, coupled with inadequate training to effectively use the ZOU MyVista software learning platform, pressure emanating from doctorate degree studies by most academics, the need to undertake research and publish research papers as well as implementing a demanding quality assurance system, all strained academics. On a positive note, the use of e-learning has expedited feedback and communication to students, and it is also very convenient to them as they no longer have to travel long distances or queue at regional campuses to see the regional programme coordinators. Reviews on multiple exposure pathways, human intake estimates, and health risks including toxicokinetics, and toxicodynamics of EOCs in DWS are scarce. This review presents recent advances in human intake and health risks of EOCs in DWS. First, an overview of the evidence showing that DWS harbours a wide range of EOCs is presented. Multiple human exposure to EOCs occurs via ingestion of drinking water and beverages, inhalation and dermal pathways are discussed. A potential novel exposure may occur via the intravenous route in dialysis fluids. Analysis of global data on pharmaceutical pollution in rivers showed that the cumulative concentrations (μg L-1) of pharmaceuticals (mean ± standard error of the mean) were statistically more than two times significantly higher (p = 0.011) in South America (11.68 ± 5.29), Asia (9.97 ± 3.33), Africa (9.48 ± 2.81) and East Europe (8.09 ± 4.35) than in high-income regions (2.58 ± 0.48). Maximum cumulative concentrations of pharmaceuticals (μg L-1) decreased in the order; Asia (70.7) had the highest value followed by South America (68.8), Africa (51.3), East Europe (32.0) and high-income regions (17.1) had the least concen- tration. The corresponding human intake via ingestion of untreated river water was also significantly higher in low- and middle-income regions than in their high-income counterparts. For each region, the daily intake of pharmaceuticals was highest in infants, followed by children and then adults. A critique of the human health hazards, including toxicokinetics and toxicodynamics of EOCs is presented. Emerging health hazards of EOCs in DWS include; (1) long-term latent and intergenerational effects, (2) the interactive health effects of EOC mixtures and the challenges of multifinality and equifinality, and (3) the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease hypothesis. It describes changes in the variability or average state of the atmosphere over time scales ranging from a decade to millions of years (Ayoade, 2003). Gender- differentiated impacts of climate change on women and men in developing countries will have detrimental effects on agricultural productivity, biodiversity and ecosystem services. This is because they have the least capacity or opportunity and knowledge to prepare for the impacts of a changing climate given their limited resources (Nelson et al. 2010). According to Nellemann et al., (2011) adaptation, vulnerability and resilience of people to climate change depend upon a range of conditions. These vary from their degree of exposure and dependency upon weather patterns for livelihoods and food security, to varying capacities in adaptation, which are influenced by gender, social status, economic poverty, power, access, and control and ownership over resources in the household, community and society. Climate change is a global phenomenon, with impacts that are already being experienced on a human level, and around the world, many of the most vulnerable communities are already struggling to cope with the impacts of climate change. Therefore, it is reasonable to suggest that climate change is reshaping human civilization and our knowledge on how we respond to climate change calamities will determine the future of mankind. It is recognised that it is those who are already the most vulnerable and marginalised who experience the greatest impacts (IPCC, 2007), and are in the greatest need of adaptation strategies in the face of shifts in weather patterns and resulting environmental phenomena. There is need for gender sensitive adaptation strategies in the face of existing climate change impacts on human activity and food security, including how these are manifested in different contexts. Men and women experience particular gendered vulnerabilities in climate change induced disasters, therefore there is need to identify the extent to which lack of gender sensitive disater preparedeness action have led to greater risk, and to map out possible engendered strageties for interventions to mitigate the impacts of possible disasters. Empowered with appropriate knowledge, men and women can effectively use this knowledge to advance sustainable use of biodiversity in most communities as a result lessening the impact of climate change. In today’s information-driven society, access to information has been tremendously improved through artificial intelligence (AI). Information literacy helps equip patrons with modern digital skills enabling them to navigate the information world. The purpose of this study was to investigate the attitudes and experiences of librarians regarding the use of AI in information literacy programs to enhance access to information. Libraries and information centres can harness the use of artificial intelligence to ensure that each patron is literate, thus being able to handle information and data, its use and the creation of information resources and services. This qualitative study examines the potential of artificial intelligence in delivering of information literacy skills in higher education libraries in Zimbabwe. Interviews with selected twenty-five librarians involved in information literacy instruction were conducted. Purposive sampling was used where a select 25 librarians involved in information literacy delivery were invited to participate in the study. The findings from this study show a positive attitude toward the use of AI despite its slow implementation in information literacy training. The findings of the study will be important in contributing knowledge to the broader field of technology and information literacy instruction.
