                <text>The study sought to ascertain the effect of bank-specific factors on banking sector development&#13;
in Zimbabwe since the introduction of the multi-currency system. This was prompted by an&#13;
inability of Zimbabwe’s banking system to efficiently and effectively execute its financial&#13;
intermediary role of supplying affordable long-term loans to productive sectors of the economy&#13;
as a catalyst for economic growth. The study made use of a post-positivist research philosophy&#13;
and utilised 218 structured questionnaires to gather quantitative data on study constructs. Data&#13;
was analysed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) in&#13;
SmartPLS 4.0 software model and SPSS software package version 25. Study findings revealed&#13;
that liquidity, business intelligence and analytics, board structure, asset quality, digitalisation&#13;
and bank size have a statistically positive effect on banking sector development. The study,&#13;
therefore, recommends authorities to invest in digital banking, enhance cybersecurity, augment&#13;
bank liquidity, refine asset quality and boost banks’ capitalisation in order to enhance banking&#13;
sector development. </text>

                <text>This study traced graduates of the Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) Faculty of Commerce (FACOM) from year 2000 to year 2015 to assess curriculum relevance, graduate outcomes, and labour market alignment. A total of 150 self-administered questionnaires were distributed through Regional Centres to collect data on employment status, further study intentions, programme perceptions, and skill acquisition. Findings showed that most respondents were adult learners, with a mean age of 40.2 years, and that 91.7% expressed the intention to pursue further studies, most preferring ZOU. Employment outcomes were diverse, with graduates largely absorbed in tertiary education, government and banking sectors. Respondents rated the FCL programmes as highly contributory to organisational, leadership, problem-solving and teamwork skills, but less effective in enhancing computer literacy and technical knowledge. Overall, the programmes were perceived as relevant to current jobs and the labour market, though areas such as ICT integration and industry linkages require strengthening. The study concluded that while ZOU FACOM effectively supported human capital development, curriculum adjustments and enhanced delivery mechanisms were essential to sustain competitiveness and graduate employability</text>

agency of female spirit mediumship during Zimbabwe’s liberation wars, 1896-1980,&#13;
in order to describe African worldview’s link to contemporary guidance and&#13;
counselling theory and practice. In so doing, the study offers gendered perspective&#13;
research to the study of spirit mediumship in Zimbabwe. The study’s objectives&#13;
included exploring the guidance and counselling offered by spirit mediums during the&#13;
liberation wars in Zimbabwe contextualizing it to mainstream guidance and&#13;
counselling theory and practice; examining the connection of this guidance and&#13;
counselling to African cosmology; explicating factors causing the marginalisation of&#13;
female spirit mediums in the Chimurenga meta-narrative and lastly to contribute a&#13;
home grown theory of guidance and counselling. The role of guidance and counseling&#13;
by female spirit mediums is seldom mentioned in the works of other scholars.&#13;
Existential phenomenology was employed as a research design to investigate the&#13;
phenomena of spirit mediumship. Purposive sampling and snowballing were utilized&#13;
to select the research participants and was determined by data saturation. Data were&#13;
gathered through in-depth interviews guided by interview guides and observation&#13;
schedules. Research findings revealed that female spirit mediums’ guidance and&#13;
counselling role has not been contextualized within the mainstream Western oriented&#13;
guidance and counselling theory and practice. The study concluded that the important&#13;
female spirit mediumship guidance and counselling paradigm has remained outside&#13;
the purview of mainstream guidance and counselling theory in Zimbabwe. It is&#13;
recommended that the guidance and counselling services provided by the female&#13;
spirit mediums should be recognized within conventional guidance and counselling&#13;
practice.</text>

                <text>Artificial intelligence is influencing how businesses operate and how people live and work in&#13;
the 21st century. To remain competitive, businesses are forced to integrate AI in their&#13;
operations or else face relegation. Since many businesses have survival as a common business&#13;
objective, they are highly likely to adopt AI so that they stay afloat and remain competitive.&#13;
The advent of emerging technologies on its own presents a new and dynamic business&#13;
landscape which is complex; there is a need to realign the traditional ethical frameworks and&#13;
ensure they are in sync with current technological trends. This study lays bare major ethical&#13;
dilemmas such as algorithmic bias, data privacy, transparency and potential job loss which&#13;
have sparked debate on the topic of emerging technology adoption, particularly AI and ethics.&#13;
A systematic literature review is employed in reviewing literature related to AI, legal&#13;
frameworks and business ethics. Recent incidences documented in literature are examined to&#13;
illustrate how businesses are navigating consequences of AI adoption. The role of regulators&#13;
and their influence in shaping legal frameworks is also examined. Results of this study showed&#13;
that there was a significant need of dynamic ethical guidelines that were readily responsive to&#13;
the unprecedented pace of technological changes and innovation. Management and those&#13;
charged with governance need to take a proactive role in designing and implementing dynamic&#13;
ethical frameworks. For instance, they could adopt strategies such as ethics auditing and the&#13;
use of an inclusive design process when crafting/ changing ethical frameworks.</text>

                <text>The importance of assessing learning outcomes using a variety of assessment strategies or techniques and&#13;
containing data from many sources, rather than the sole dependence on the one-shot examination, has long been&#13;
recognised worldwide. This has led to major assessment policy changes in both developed and developing&#13;
countries. Continuous Assessment (CA) has been introduced as part of the examination and assessment innovation&#13;
in the Zimbabwean education system. CA is intended to be added onto the traditional assessment, that is,&#13;
summative assessment in order to improve the assessment and evaluation of pupils’ performance, and ultimately&#13;
the whole process of teaching, learning and assessment. Qualitative data was generated through the researcher as&#13;
a data generating instrument, questionnaires, interviews, Focus Group Discussion, documents analysis, and&#13;
observations. The generated data was analysed through Thematic Content Analysis. Results showed that the CA&#13;
practices done by most of the teachers were faulty and deviated remarkably from policy guidelines except for&#13;
practical learning areas. Teachers do not possess the required competencies for the implementation of CA. It was&#13;
also observed that the tasks weighed the teachers down. Their greatest attention was on measuring cognitive&#13;
attainment rather than including the affective and psychomotor behaviours of the pupils. The study concludes that&#13;
the majority of the teachers in the secondary schools exhibited a high level of incompetence in the use of statistical&#13;
tools, a skill which is necessary for presenting the pupils’ performance in a neat and logical manner</text>

                <text>Fruit utilization is affected by quality attributes and shelf life. The quality of Jujube or Ber (Ziziphus&#13;
mauritiana Lamk.) fruits after harvest depends on storage conditions used. In this study, different&#13;
storage temperatures and durations were evaluated to determine the appropriate storage conditions of&#13;
fresh fruits of Z. mauritiana. Three storage temperature levels, low (5oC), intermediate (15oC) and&#13;
ambient (22oC) were evaluated at 3, 6, 9 and 12 weeks storage durations. Fruits stored at low&#13;
temperature lost only 48% of their weight during the entire 12 week storage period while the fruits&#13;
stored in the ambient and intermediate temperature ranges lost 70 and 75% of weight, respectively. At&#13;
three weeks of storage, more than 40% of fruits had shrivelled under the ambient and intermediate&#13;
storage temperatures compared to only 3% under the low storage temperature. It is concluded that cold&#13;
storage condition can prolong the shelf life of Z. mauritiana fruits</text>

                <text>Ziziphus mauritiana Lamk. (Ber) fruit is harvested at different stages of ripening in the Zambezi valley of&#13;
Zimbabwe. We hypothesize that the organoleptic quality attributes of fruits depend on post-harvest&#13;
drying method and ripening stage at harvest. This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of&#13;
different stages of ripening on the quality of Z. mauritiana fruits during drying. The fruits were graded&#13;
into green, yellowish-brown and brown categories and these formed the treatments. Some of these&#13;

                <text>An assessment of consumer willingness to pay for ‘novel’ products is critical because it&#13;
determines the market entry point for a business venture. A research study was conducted&#13;
between July and September 2023 in Chegutu to analyse consumers’ willingness to pay for&#13;
organic cabbage with the conventional cabbage as the benchmark. Data from 200 respondents&#13;
was collected using a mall-intercept survey from the 4th of July to the 10th of September 2023&#13;
using convenience sampling. The study targeted consumers that are 18 years and above as the&#13;
primary grocery shoppers of their households. This paper represents the first attempt to analyse&#13;
the consumer willingness to pay for organic foods in Zimbabwe to the knowledge of the&#13;
researcher. The modern approach to consumer demand theory (The Attribute/Lancaster Model)&#13;
regards consumption as an activity with goods as inputs yielding output in terms of a pool of&#13;
attributes. Unlike the traditional economic demand theory, it is able to explain why some&#13;
consumers prefer highly priced organically produced foods to the cheaper conventionally&#13;
produced alternatives. A double-bounded contingent valuation approach was used to&#13;
determine the price premium while logistic regression was used to analyse the factors affecting&#13;
willingness to pay. An average price premium of 61% was established. Lifestyle and organic&#13;
source of information (agricultural fairs or exhibitions) were shown to negatively affect&#13;
willingness to pay. On the other hand, consumers who had high ethical values and were married&#13;
had a high probability of a willingness to pay for organic cabbage. In future, willingness to pay&#13;
should be measured through actual purchase of these credence foods at the point of sale</text>

                <text>Public entities in Zimbabwe have been experiencing frequent corporate failures that are&#13;
attributed to endless scandals that include embezzlement of funds, unscrupulous rewarding of tenders and nepotism. The primary objective of the study was, therefore, to examine the malfeasances that contribute to poor corporate performance among state entity boards in Zimbabwe. The Agency Theory and Political Theory informed the study. The pragmatism research philosophy, mixed research approach and cross-sectional survey research design were adopted. The study population comprised permanent secretaries, CEOs, executive and non- executive directors from all public entities across Zimbabwe. A sample of 261 participants was used for collecting quantitative data and 25 participants for collecting qualitative data. The stratified sampling and purposive sampling techniques were applied to sample quantitative and qualitative data respectively. Semi-structured questionnaires and in-depth personal interviews were applied to collect and generate data from participants. The study established that poor recruitment procedures and board inefficiencies were behind the underperformance of public entities. The results indicated that government policy on how public entities are governed indeed moderates the relationship between board malfeasances and corporate performance. The respondents urged the government to transform the public entities by applying stern measures to curb corruption and employing the right people to boards.&#13;

                <text>The study sought to find out the influence of employee engagement on organisational performance at the Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU), which is a state university. The study was informed by the persistent feature of ZOU in the media for wrong reasons, which suggestedthat it was very likely that some of its staff members were exposing the institution. The study used the interprevitism philosophy which resonated with the qualitative paradigm. A case study design was applied. Data were generated using face-to-face interviews. The population was eight hundred (800) staff members, and a convenience sampling method was used to identify&#13;
the number of participants who could provide qualitative data, and the actual size was determined by data saturation. An analysis of the qualitative data which characterised the study was done by using thematic analysis. The major finding was that there was low engagement among ZOU employees. Major recommendations included revisiting both the internal and external fairness of remuneration, adopting a flexible working model, employer-assisted&#13;
occupational stress management, and providing good working conditions.</text>

contribute to high staff turnover. This study employed a systematic literature review (SLR) to&#13;
synthesise existing research on employee retention strategies and their impact on job satisfaction in Zimbabwean HE institutions. Using the PRISMA framework, the study identified key retention practices, including financial incentives, professional development&#13;
programmes, flexible work arrangements, and institutional support mechanisms. The findings revealled that while Zimbabwean HE institutions employed both monetary and non-monetary retention strategies, their effectiveness was often undermined by inconsistent implementation&#13;
and resource constraints. Comparative analysis with global best practices highlighted the disparity between Zimbabwean institutions and their counterparts in developed economies, where structured career pathways, tenure systems, and work-life balance policies contribute to higher job satisfaction. The study identified critical gaps in existing literature, including a lack of longitudinal research, insufficient empirical evidence on non-monetary incentives, and methodological inconsistencies. This review underscored the need for Zimbabwean policymakers and university administrators to adopt sustainable, evidence-based retention&#13;

research designs guided by positivist research theory were utilised. The unit of analysis was&#13;
limited to six public universities in Zimbabwe. Two hundred and twenty-nine respondents were&#13;
randomly chosen out of 1 450 employees in the separate revenue-generating units to participate&#13;
in the Rensis Likert scale questionnaire survey. Quantitative data were validated using tests for&#13;
normality, kurtosis and skewness, homoscedasticity, multicollinearity, and prior power of the&#13;
entire study model. The test findings were within acceptable limits. The multiple linear&#13;
regression model results revealed that organisational structure, cost management, financial&#13;
administration, institutional support, and own income generation all had positive coefficients,&#13;
indicating a positive relationship with financial sustainability. A negative relationship was&#13;
found between strategic planning and financial sustainability, implying that the more strategic&#13;
planning procedures implemented, the worse the financial sustainability. The alternate&#13;
hypothesis: Innovative financial resource mobilisation having no substantial effect on the&#13;
financial sustainability of Zimbabwe's public universities, was accepted. It was concluded that&#13;
the innovative financial resource mobilisation improved the financial sustainability of&#13;
Zimbabwe's public universities.</text>
